Phenomenology of Polymorphous Embodiment: Gender, Sexuality, and Trans Embodiment KU Leuven
This project applies Husserlian phenomenology to (transgender/transsexual) ‘trans subjectivity.’ The history of trans studies includes: (1) a scientific-medical tradition analysing the trans subject as a medical object of pathology that manifests deviating physiological or psychological traits; and (2), the use of transgender identity as object of theory-building and political subversion, by feminists and gender theorists.
