Architecture and Design

Main organisation:Department of Architecture
Lifecycle:1 Aug 2020 →  Today
Organisation profile:

The aim of the Division Architecture and Design at the Department of Architecture is to understand and foster design as a way of knowing and means of knowledge production, within the context of scientific research, university education, and the professional practice of architecture and urbanism. Our research comprises a dialectic process of analytical investigation and operational synthesis, with a focus on creativity as a catalyst for innovation and foresight.

The division consists of a multidisciplinary team that all study, teach and/or practice design and/or use it as a way to undertake scientific research, with members of different backgrounds who join forces on a variety of design-related topics, such as research by design, research on design (design science), design didactics, design tools (computational design) and people who design (designing). The application domains of this division range from urban design and architectural design, over inclusive design (e.g. architectural design and disability), to interaction design (e.g. human-computer interaction).
