Study of performance parameters, quality and steering stability of Eddy Merckx racing Ghent University
The goal of this project is to develop a carbon fiber composite bicycle frame that allows the rider to most efficiently and on the safest way to meet the toughest cycling challenges.
measuring the stability of biochar in soil and developing biochar characterisation techniques Ghent University
biochar in the carbon-richh solid resideu obtained by the pyrolysis of biomass. Biochar can be used as a carbon-negative soil enhancer. the study at hand deals with the assessment of the biochar stability in the soil and its potential effect on CO2 production out of soil organic carbon by soil microbiota. furthermore, different physicochemical characterezation techniques will assessed in terms of their use in predicting the biochar in soil ...

Hydrothermal stability in catalytic biomass conversion. KU Leuven
For decades, zeolites have been used as hydrocarbon conversion catalysts in petrochemistry. As the fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) technology, applied in modern petroleum refineries, comprises steam regeneration of a coked steam stable zeolite Y (USY), it is normal to find extensive studies on zeolite Y steam stability. Depletion of long-term availability of fossil fuels, geopolitical frictions and current climate problems forced academia and ...
Stability of social participation and loneliness among students with SEN at the start of mainstream secondary school. KU Leuven
Influence of methylamines on Escherichia coli viability Ghent University
A screeningmodel, based on flow cytometric and other techniques, was developed to assess the influence of methylamines on the viability of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli. Results show a decrease of ETEC viability after exposure to glycine, sarcosine and imethylglycine, but not betaine, under alkaline conditions (pH 9,0-10,0), due to a disturbance of bacterial pH homeostasis mechanisms.
Liability for the violation of the right to information and consent of the patient. KU Leuven
The patient has the right to give his informed consent to a medical intervention and to receive information about his state of health. Although the importance of these patient's rights is widely recognized, its enforcement is one of the most debated issues in medical liability law. In the absence of a specific statutory sanction the patient has to rely on general tort law. Because tort law is not adapted to this situation, a heavy and often ...
