The presence, sources and transmission routes of important foodborne pathogens: Salmonella in poultry and pigs, Taenia and Sarcocystis in cattle. Ghent University
Salmonella, Sarcocystis and Taenia are important foodborne pathogens commonly found in poultry, pork, and beef. Increased knowledge on their occurrence and transmission are essential for control. Therefore, sources and transmission routes of Salmonella spp. during the slaughter process of poultry and pigs, and occurrence of Sarcocystis spp. as well as environmental contamination with Sarcocystis- and Taenia spp will be studied.
