Can I see some ID, please? Police discretion in cannabis-related ID checks and stop and searches, and their effect on police legitimacy. An ethnographic study in 2 Belgian police forces. Ghent University
The way police act in their daily police practice against the possession and use of cannabis, the most
commonly used illicit drug, is a controversial story, both in the academic - and in the political world.
The role and function of the police in the fight against cannabis remains very unclear, both with the
police and with the users. Although there is a lot of research into cannabis use and the harms done
by cannabis ...

H2-MHytic: H2 BY MEMBRANE INTEGRATED HIGH SURFACE AREA NANOMESH TECHNOLOGY VITO (Flemish institute for technological research)
Renewable electricity production has developed enormously in recent decades and has since become the lowest-cost option. One of the main challenges concerns the integration of these time-unstable production sources into the electricity supply network ("grid"), while avoiding peak production destabilizing this network. Local sources of renewable electricity, such as wind farms, ...
Experimental study of catalysts and process designs for chemical synthesis using H2 and CO2 KU Leuven
The main goal of this PhD is firstly to develop catalytic materials that allow the reaction of CO2 with H2 towards high added value chemical products and secondly to study the process and integration of such reaction at a larger (lab-pilot) scale.
Ambient temperature conversion of organic waste to compressed H2 and CO2 in a bioelectrochemical system for chemicals production Ghent University
This project will firlsty develop a closed bioelectrochemical system (BES) to convert organic waste to pressurized CO2 and H2 at room temperature, and then further convert them into specific chemicals (e.g. acetate, formate, and methanol) in a fermenter and/or catalytic reactor.

Moonrise: Hybrid membrane/sorption technology for more efficient C2 and C3 separations. KU Leuven
The overall aim of this MOONRISE project proposal is to create an energy efficient alternative to cryogenic distillation in the production of C2 and C3 base chemicals by designing membranes for C2 and C3 olefin/paraffin separations. Also, a membrane-based separation of these olefins from purge streams (mainly N2) will be investigated to drastically reduce olefin losses via flaring.
