Holistic assessment of the potential of indigenous earthworm species for vermicomposting process and improving soil and plant health in Ethiopia Ghent University
The project assesses availability of local organic wastes, growth conditions of indigenous earthworm species and their decomposition efficiency in Ethiopia. The quality and impacts of these vermicomposts as biofertilizer and biocontrol will be further assessed under laboratory and field conditions using tomato as test plant. The knowledge and skill gained will improve food security and incomes of small-scale farmers.
