Refinement and validation of the sewage epidemiology approach to estimate illicit drug use in the general population. University of Antwerp
An integrated approach of genetic epidemiology and molecular genetics in the study of Alzheimer dementia and related phenotypes. University of Antwerp
Research into the prevalence and epidemiology of M. gallisepticum and M. meleagridis and discovery of the reservoir Ghent University
In this project we will determine the prevalence of M. gallisepticum and M. meleagridis infections in poultry and free living birds and the strain diversity of M. gallisepticum and M. meleagridis strains in Belgium. This will allow us to propose preventive measures.
Occupational and environmental causes of sarcoidosis: clarifying epidemiology, improving in vitro detection, and development of an animal model KU Leuven
Real-time approach to the molecular epidemiology and evolutionary investigation and surveillance of acute viral epidemics. KU Leuven
Genomic analyses have revealed critical insights into the evolution and transmission of infectious agents in recent viral outbreaks, and offered tantalizing examples of the potential value of this approach to future outbreak control efforts. However, the scale and impact of new DNA technologies in these outbreaks has largely been stunted, due to the lack of a systematic and concerted effort. This proposal aims to overcome these challenges by ...
Molecular epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance mechanism of Campylobacter species among children under the age of five with diarrhoea, domestic animals and environmental sources in Amhara National Regional State, Ethiopia Ghent University
This study is aimed at determining the molecular epidemiology and mechanism of antimicrobial resistance in Campylobacter. Specimens from various sources will be analysed using molecular tools. The nutritional status of children will be measured. The study will contribute to the understanding of the epidemiology and transmission dynamics of Campylobacter and help reduce the burden of diarrhoea and malnutrition in children.
Clinical and genetic epidemiology of Parkinson's disease: focus on disease progression and non-motor symptoms. University of Antwerp
Development and implementation of a Chlamydophila psittaci molecular diagnostic platform to study the epidemiology of the infection and for tracing zoonotic transmission from birds to man Ghent University
Psittacosis still presents an epidemiologic and diagnostic challenge. Both prevalence and diagnosis are the subject of this study. We aim to compare different diagnostic technics and evaluate the influence of a number of factors on the transfer from bird to main.
Foot-and-Mouth disease Epidemiology and Vaccinology in Ethiopia KU Leuven
Ethiopia has the largest livestock inventories among African countries. Recent reports showed that, 56.71 million heads of cattle, 29.33 million sheep, 29.11 million goats and 54.5 million chickens are found in Ethiopia ( Agricultural Sample Survey 2015/16). Even though the country is endowed with this wealth, it happens to be the corridor of many internationally important livestock disease among others foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) (Ethiopia ...
