Low-Cost First-Order Secure Boolean Masking in Glitchy Hardware KU Leuven
We describe how to securely implement the logical AND of two bits in hardware in the presence of glitches without the need for fresh randomness. As a case study, we design, implement and evaluate a DES core using our AND gate. Our goal is an overall practically relevant tradeoff between area, latency, randomness cost and security. We focus on first-order secure Boolean masking and we do not aim for provable security. The resulting DES engine ...
An energy and area efficient, all digital entropy source compatible with modern standards based on jitter pipelining KU Leuven
This paper proposes an energy and area efficient entropy source, suitable for true random number generation, accompanied with a stochastic model in a 28nm CMOS technology. The design uses a jitter pipelining architecture together with an increased timing resolution to achieve a maximal throughput of 298 Mbit/s and a best energy efficiency of 1.46 pJ/bit at a supply of 0.8V. The generated random bits pass the NIST SP 800-90B IID tests with a min ...
Aiming for an Online/ Onsite Format and Finally Moving to Online Only KU Leuven
Based on the past two years of experience as an online event due to the Covid-19 outbreak, DATE 2022 has been planned to cope with the uncertainty of the situation, having two days onsite, in Antwerp, Belgium, from March 14 to 15, 2022, to be followed by an online program until March 23, 2022. A different organization and format had been adopted to engage the DATE community, with a two-day rich program and numerous talks and panels to gather ...
A 334uW 0.158mm2 Saber Learning with Rounding based Post-Quantum Crypto Accelerator KU Leuven
The arrival of large-scale quantum computers will break the security assurances of our current public-key cryptography. National Institute of Standard & Technology (NIST) is currently running a multi-year-long standardization procedure to select quantum-safe or postquantum cryptographic schemes to be used in the future. Energy efficiency is an important criterion in the selection process. This paper presents the first Silicon verified ASIC ...
