De Zwinbosjes, 30 jaar na de laatste gepubliceerde inventarisatie

Tijdschriftbijdrage - Tijdschriftartikel

On the 23th of November 2017, four employees of the Botanic Garden Meise visited the nature reserve ‘Zwinbosjes’ in Knokke-Heist. Purpose of the excursion was to make an inventory of the lichens and lichenicolous fungi. The last time that an investigation of the bryophytes and lichens was published goes back to 1987. Then 61 taxa of lichens were noted what was considered as exceptional for Flanders at that moment. The wealth of epiphytes was attributed to limited air pollution due to dominance of western sea winds, a constant high humidity and the occurrence of a large number of tree species. During the current excursion we were able to record a larger number of species (69 taxa). The differences between the two investigations can be partially attributed to differences in the time spend. The 1987 excursion was a day excursion with a few private excursions while we only spent five hours in the area and therefore, certainly did not view the same and an equally large area. Some of the species present in 1987 and not found in 2017 are clearly declining in Flanders, while others found in 2017 and not in 1987 are spreading, most likely under the influence of climate change.
