Tijdschriftbijdrage - Tijdschriftartikel

In the last decade the provocative thought of Bruno Latour has itself become an established field within academia. The book Bruno Latour's Collectives proofs this once more. This edited volume of fifteen papers shows that even in the more solemn circles of the German speaking academic world Latour's heresy against the Big Names in sociology is seen as a challenge that has to be reckoned with. Latour's turn from "Society" and "social laws" towards "collectives", "hybrids", "networks", "circulating references" and "assemblages" cannot be discarded lightly. The ways in which this collection of papers engages with Latour are very divergent and the four headings under which they are assembled ("Scientific and Technical Objects", "Media and Mediators", "Social Theory or Theory of Collectives" and "Amodern Perspectives") are rather loose common denominators. Still there are some red threads to be pointed out.
