New types of unidirectional and bidirectional wide-bandgap semiconductors such as GaN allow to
switch with significantly lower losses and higher switching speeds, yielding a volume reduction and efficiency and enhancement. The goal of this PhD is to investigate the adaptation of existing circuit topologies and introduce novel circuit types based on these components. The envisaged applications are low-voltage high-performance drives, photovoltaics and energy storage.
