Combined hydrodynamic modeling of near and far field wake effects for optimal design of farms of wave energy converters Ghent University
For a cost-effective extraction of ocean wave energy, wave energy convertors (WECs) are arranged in farms. The interaction between different WECs and their environmental impact will be assessed by embedding accurate, yet costly numerical models for near field WEC-wave interactions in less demanding numerical models for far field wave effects. The resulting methodology is used to optimize GEC-farm layouts.
