Characterizing cargoes of the TPLATE complex: focus on Callose Synthases (GSLs) and Secretory Carrier Membrane Proteins (SCAMPs) Ghent University
Laser Ablation- Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry KU Leuven
Laser Ablation – Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) is an equipment for elemental analysis of materials. The laser ablates and removes material from a solid surface by irradiating it with a pulsed laser beam, the ablated particles are transported to an ICPMS in which the elemental composition is measured, thereby detecting different chemical elements and different isotopes at the same time. By moving the laser over the ...
Black hole description of equilibrium and non-equilibrium properties of the quark-gluon plasma Ghent University
The quark-gluon plasma can be described holographically involving a black hole in 5 dimensions which behaves as a membrane with hydrodynamic properties. The purpose of this research proposal is to deduce this fluid membrane ab initio from a dual string model. We will investigate the AdS5/CFT model and how two component quantum liquids are realized on the stretched horizon.

Gas phase surface discharge plasma based degradation of organic micro-pollutants in water KU Leuven
Changes in regulations and consumer behavior are likely insufficient to fully control the complex OMP discharge routes and therefore, other approaches that target OMP removal in the human water cycle remain needed. Two essential points in the water cycle that need OMP removal are at the levels of WWTPs and drinking water treatment plants (DWTPs). As mentioned above, many OMPs escape WWTPs while DWTPs have to ensure that drinking water is free ...
