The Living On of Authors: Canonical Writers of Modernity Represented in Recent Biographical Novels
The object of this research is to chart two important phases in the evolution of author revival biofiction, the 1980s and the 1990s. Biofiction, the hybrid literary genre that transforms real historical lives into material for novels, has risen to unprecedented visibility around the turn of the 21st century, culminating ...
The role of micro-aeration-based processes for the valorisation of polluted sludge to value-added chemicals KU Leuven
Industrial and municipal biological wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) generate vast amounts of sludge (SS) as a by-product. The total
annual production of sludge currently surpasses 13 million tonnes of dry solids (DS) in the EU, even excluding sludge production from
industrial on-site WWTP. Sewage sludge (SS) mainly contains non-toxic organic matter that can be converted to value-added compounds
such as carboxylic acids, ...
ICP-CVD system for the deposition of high-quality dielectric layers at low temperature Ghent University
The aim of the project is to acquire an ICP-CVD (Inductively Coupled Plasma Chemical Vapor Deposition) for the deposition of dielectric layers such silicion dioxide or silicon nitride. Using this tool, we will then realize both ultra-low loss waveguides and micro-lasers based on hybrid stacks of colloidal quantum dots and dielectric cladding layers. The fact that the ICP-CVD technology allows to deposit these layers at much lower temperatures ...

Photonic interconnect layer on silicon / Ultra low power Photonic Ics for optical interconnects sand communication networks Ghent University
Future high performance microprocessors will be confronted with a bottleneck on the datacommunication level: classical electrical interconnects will no longer suffice. To overcome this, this project will investigate an optical interconnect layer for on-chip communication. The most important component in the source, a nanolaser with minimal power consumption.
- We aim the developing new device concepts for micro-lasers, detectors, ...
