From the lab to the field: the translation of fundamental bioenergy research from a model plant to the crops poplar and maize requires upscaling of the equipment necessary for analysis of biomass properties Ghent University
The Bio-energy Group aims at improving plant biomass for a better conversion to biofuels and biochemicals by engineering the plant cell wall. Poplar trees and maize are used for translational research and to conduct field trials. For biomass analysis, the biomass needs to be grinded to fine powder. We request equipment to facilitate the milling and drying process.
An analysis of the impact of acute and chronic heat stress on various health outcomes using a distributed lag non-linear model and Bayesian spatio-temporal approach KU Leuven
According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), 2015-2022 are the eight consecutive warmest year. As a result of continual climate change over many years, there is an increasing trend in temperature, the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. In light of global warming and climate change, studying the impact of extended temperature over many years on both morbidity and mortality for pronounced future course of practical ...
Harmful Cultural Practices: A critical analysis of cross-cultural discourses and moral understandings of gender, sexuality and embodiment Ghent University
The aim of this project is (1) to critically question the analytical viability and the strategic potential of the notion of harmful cultural practices; (2) to gain a better insight into the way in which women in a migration context experience and negotiate moral and cultural understandings concerning gender, sexuality and embodiment, and (3) to develop an alternative framework that incorporates different cultural perspectives and ...

Analysis of pharmaceutical products in wastewater: development, validation and evaluation of a new and innovative model for their (rational) use. University of Antwerp
Optogenetic analysis of circuitry formation in the enteric nervous system in health and in a model of gastrointestinal dysmotility. KU Leuven
Digestive function relies on the orchestrated activity of the enteric nervous system, a precisely wired network of neurons and their support cells embedded in the wall of the gut. The enteric nervous system is vital for coordinating the muscle contractions that control the mixing and propulsion of food in the gut, and is able to do this without input from the brain. In order to do this, enteric neurons must be meticulously wired together in a ...
