MEDICIS-produced radioisotope beams for medicine. KU Leuven
Pure accelerated radioisotope beams have been used for 50 years in fundamental physics R&D, e.g. for nuclear structure studies (pear shaped exotic nuclei, Nature 2013); CERN-ISOLDE plays a central role in developing accelerator technologies and fostering collaborative approaches to advance this field of isotope mass separation online. Our most recent contribution was the use of nanomaterial targets for more intense and reliable beam ...
Development of a database and registration and analysis of the antimicrobial consumption in veterinary medicine in Belgium Ghent University
In this project first a data collection system is developed and secondly data on antimicrobial consumption in veterinary medecine in Belgium is collected. Finally these data are analyze and an annual report is prepared.
The role of the different actors in controlling the costs of the medicine use in Belgium. University of Antwerp
Molecular and functional imaging as a pivotal tool for translational medicine in the field of neuroscience and oncology: a platform creating a bridge between basic research, clinical development and industrial application. KU Leuven
Strengthening developmental capacity for family medicine training in Africa: the South Africa-Family Medicine-Twinning project Ghent University
The aim of the project is to improve the health of communities through accessible, responsive and quality health care systems in Southern Africa. This will be accomplished by training family physicians who contribute to interdisciplinary primary health care services, oriented towards the needs of individuals, their families and the communities in which they live. Capacity building will focus on creating a strong link between the South ...
Discovery of antimicrobial compounds from Hakka Traditional Medicine using high resolution mass spectrometric approaches KU Leuven
Bacteria and fungi continue to cause serious infections world-wide, whose treatment by existing antibiotics is increasingly hampered by the emergence of drug-resistant strains. The development of new antimicrobial drugs must therefore be a focus of new drug research and development. This requires the discovery of new active compounds (preferably with a novel mechanism of antimicrobial action) and elucidation of the molecular mechanism of drug ...
Challenges in veterinary communication: dealing with complementary and alternative medicine Ghent University
Complementary and alternative veterinary medicine (CAVM) is increasingly popular amongst pet owners. Most owners do not discuss CAVM use with their veterinarian, which could have serious implications for animal wellbeing. This project will quantify the prevalence of CAVM use amongst pet owners in Flanders, identify factors hampering veterinarian-client communication about CAVM and provide evidence on best practices for CAVM discussions.
