Data-driven autonomous long-term interaction for social robots Ghent University
The research project studies how social robots can use empathy and memory to establish a long-term interaction with users. Instead of programming the robot, machine learning is used in which a domain expert first controls the robot, after which the robot gradually takes over from the expert. The robot will be evaluated with children and elderly users in real-world scenarios.
The role of pili on Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in the interaction with macrophages and other immune cells KU Leuven
The human gastrointestinal tract is colonized by large numbers of microbes, referred to as the gut microbiota. This microbiota establishes a complex and bilateral interplay with local host cells such as epithelial and immune cells. Functions including contribution to digestion, pathogen exclusion, enhancement of the epithelial barrier functioning and immune system modulation have been attributed to these gut microorganisms. Their described ...
Interaction between muscle mechanics and reflex hyperactivity in CP: from animal experiments to model-based diagnosis of joint hyper-resistance KU Leuven
Materiality, Making, and Empowerment: Designing Squeeze Interactions in a School for Disabled Children KU Leuven
The world around us is filled with a richness of materials. Through and with our bodies, we experience, explore, and manipulate these materials throughout the day; materials that are sticky or smooth, that bend or break, that wrap them selves around us or that melt away upon touch. Translating this physical way of interacting and being in the world to interacting with and being in a digital environment, one can wonder where the richness went. ...
