My thesis is part of the Ponderful project, which is a project led at the European level that aims at understanding the functioning of pond ecosystems. Ponds are biodiversity hotspots and provide many ecosystem services (such as carbon and methane capture, water retention, water filtration and flood mitigation). Restoring and creating pondscapes can thus be used as nature based solution to reduce and mitigate the effects of climate change on ...
SUPERB pursues the overall goal to create a lasting enabling environment for transformative change towards large-scale forest and forest landscape restoration, which empowers decision makers to take just and informed decisions for restoration of biodiversity, ecosystem services and carbon sequestration in a manner that minimises region specific trade-offs and maximises synergies between ecosystem services. SUPERB develops and synthesises a ...
Declines of common species compromise ecosystem functioning. The European common toad is emblematic for a common species in decline. Using a multidisciplinary (veterinary sciences, toxicology, ecology) approach, this project aims at unraveling the complex interplay between the causes and mechanisms of toad declines, which will allow informing biodiversity conservation.
