Isoniazid Preventive Therapy (IPT) uptake and Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) uptake among adults receiving primary HIV care in South Africa University of Antwerp
We aimed to evaluate Isoniazid Preventive Therapy (IPT) and tuberculin skin testing (TST) uptake under primary care clinic conditions, and determine health care worker (HCW) fidelity to the 2014 South African IPT guidelines. Following training on IPT guidelines and tuberculin skin testing (TST), 3 primary care clinics identified their IPT implementation strategy in a participatory manner. Using routine register data, TST uptake was determined 3 months before and 5 months after the intervention. Records were reviewed to identify IPT/TST uptake and factors associated with IPT initiation among ...

The main aim of the iCAREdata-project (Improving Care And Research Electronic Data Trust Antwerp) is to develop a central, clinical research database in out-of-hours (OOH) care in Belgium. With this project, the research team of CHA-ELIZA is developing a state-of-the-art database, in sync with the most recent legal, ethical and privacy aspects present in Belgium and Europe. One crucial aspect of the project is the unique way it links data between different health care services. Subsequently, we are able to study the chain of care that patients follow in OOH care. This gives a broader view on ...

Covid-19 has had a big impact on many aspects of our life, including mental health. Since the start of the pandemic, a whole body of Belgian research has been performed on the relation between covid-19 and mental health (care). The mental health & covid-19 working group of the superior health council lists these studies in order to provide advice to policy makers and the general public. The first advisory report focused on international literature on contagious outbreaks, since not many studies on covid-19 and, especially, not many Belgian studies were published yet. This advice can be ...

1. Peat formation is a key carbon sequestration process in the terrestrial biosphere. In temperate fens, peat is mainly formed by below-ground biomass of vascular plants. Nutrient availability in temperate fens is naturally variable, and nowadays increasing due to atmospheric deposition, runoff from agriculture, and mineralization of peat caused by drainage. To maintain or restore peat formation, it is important to understand how increased nutrient availability influences the main controls of peat formation, i.e., below-ground biomass production and decomposition. 2. We investigated above- ...
