Shanshan Yin

  • Research interest:Dr. Shanshan Yin is an FWO Junior post-doc researcher at the Toxicological Centre at the University of Antwerp. He graduated from the Hubei University of Chinese Medicine in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences and worked for Hubei Hospital of Chinese Medicine for 5 years as a clinical laboratory technician. He got his Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry in 2015 at the South-Central University for Nationalities under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jie Sun, and a Ph.D. degree supervised by Prof. Dr. Weiping Liu in Environmental Sciences from Zhejiang University, a top-flight institute in China, in March 2019. After he got his Ph.D. degree, he chose to continue his research at Zhejiang University as a Postdoc-Assistant Researcher for two years under the supervision of Prof. Yongchao Liang and Prof. Weiping Liu. He continued his academic career at the Interdisciplinary Research Academy of Zhejiang Shuren University as a Research Associate Professor and then promoted to an Associate Professor. He got the junior post-doc fellowship from Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (Flanders Research Foundation, FWO, Belgium) in 2020. He took this job and it started in Jan 2022.He has published 40 papers in well-known peer-reviewed journals in the field of Environmental Sciences and Health, including Environment International, Environmental Pollution and Science of the Total Environment. He is also specialized in the target analytical method developments and applications for Environmental Chemistry. By Jan 2021, he has a total citation of over 600 with an H-index of 14, and the highest number of citations is 72 among his papers. He also worked as a reviewer for the Science of the Total Environment, Environment International, Talanta, and Environmental Science and Technology. His work focuses specifically on 1) the internal and target-site exposure patterns of environmental pollutants for the general population, 2) the mechanisms of trans-barrier transportation in humans, and 3) the impact of environmental contaminants on human health. The studies in which he participated include human biomonitoring, in vitro modeling, as well as in silico simulation. He works with Gas Chromatography, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, and Supercritical Fluid Chromatography coupled with various types of detectors and in particular with Mass Spectrometry.
