Project

Development and impact assessment of a STEM school module which provides students with handles to approach the socio-technological issue of nuclear energy

This project is in line with the international trend towards STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The learning trajectory that will be offered and investigated in a "case study" focuses on students in 3rd grade secondary education. It wants them to gain in-depth STEM knowledge in order to be able to enter into a substantiated debate and to learn to relate in a caring way to nuclear energy. To learn to handle this socio-technological issue, they are also encouraged to think about practical ethics and citizenship. It will be investigated what added value the module can bring (1) for the knowledge development of students about radioactivity and nuclear energy, (2) for the attitude development of students in relation to the socio-technological issue of nuclear energy, and (3) for the development of STEM motivation among students.
