Research Unit

Lifecycle:1 Feb 2017 →  8 May 2019
Organisation profile:

In research into the adaptability of trees and shrubs to a changing climate, genetic diversity and sensitivity and tolerance to diseases and pests are important topics. The research method used focuses on the study of phenological processes and growth dynamics. Considerable attention is also paid to cataloguing, classifying, preserving but also making effective use of the many collections of tree and shrub species that INBO has built up over the years, with the important goal of conserving the genetic resources of native trees and shrubs. Forest Genetic Resources is responsible for the list of recommended origins, so that high-quality indigenous/native forestry material is available to the sector.
