Molecular and functional characterization of MALT1- and AP12-MALT1-mediated NF-κB activation in lymphoma development.

We have shown that MALT1, involved in lymphoma development is a protease. The proteolytic activity is involved in the activation of the NF-KappaB pathway, which is the pathogenic mechanism. We are developing small molecule inhibitors of MALT1 proteolytic acivity and evaluating the potential of these compounds to interfere with MALT1 signalling in vivo, potentially leading to novel lymphoma treatments.
