Migrant Literature between Homogeneity and Diversity: a Comparative Analysis of the Autofictional Strategies in the Work of J.J. Saer, Bianciotti and Copi.

Migrant literature is considered nowadays as a new literary paradigm in literary criticism. However, in her enthusiasm to welcome migrant literature as a new literary paradimg, literary criticism falls into the trap of homogenization, which negates the factual diversity of experiences. The purpose of the present research project is to critically examine this "homogeneity" through a thorough evaluation of the work of three Argentinean authors sharing a common migrant experience: Bianciotti, Saer en Damonte. Having left their homeland voluntarily they established themselves in Paris in the nineteensixties and spent the rest of their lives in France. Interesting for our subject is that they are presented in literature on Latin-American migration as paradigmatic cases of "total integration", non-integration, and "in-between" position. Moreover, in the works of the selected writers the focus on the autofiction appears to be a key genre to express the complex relationship between migration and writing. In order to deeply analyze the construction of the "I" in these works, we propose a methodological model that considers the narratological, the socio-critical and the psychoanalytical dimension of this construction. Throughout the systematic comparison of the oeuvre of the three cited authors, we hope to reach a better understanding of the complexity of migrant literature and to grasp its textual specificity.
