This article addresses situations in which a nonresident alien individual invests in Italian real estate either directly, through a foreign corporation, or through an Italian entity. The Italian tax consequences of income derived from the real estate or of any gains from the sale of the same real estate are examined, along with the possible effects of a tax treaty between Italy and the country of residence of the foreign investor.
