PURPOSE: Pulmonary infections due to non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are an emerging issue in the cystic fibrosis (CF) population. Due to bacterial and fungal overgrowth, isolation of mycobacteria from the sputum samples of these patients remains challenging.
