Transition from INTEGO-MHC as a database to a monitoring instrument for the surveillance of health effects related to environmental exposure in our living environment KU Leuven
The aim is to gain insight into the impact of environmental factors on the health of the inhabitants in Flanders. We look at our living environment from a health perspective (ie based on health data, or the clinical picture of the Fleming as registered by the GP). This will allow on the one hand to steer (preventive) health policy, and on the other hand to support other policy areas with a health focus (Health in all Policies). In fact, we ...
Acute effects of park characteristics on mental health among older adults with a low socio-economic status Ghent University
This project aims to examine acute effects of park characteristics on mental health among low socio-economic older adults. Three studies will be conducted to assess acute mental state using mobile EEG while walking through the park: 1) observational study, 2) natural experiment, 3) virtual experiment. Recommendations will be formulated to optimize future park renovations for promoting healthy ageing.
EXHALE - EXploring Health effects of Antioxidants on Lung Exertion. Ghent University

Data-driven search for 3D facial traits determined by major gene effects in health and disease KU Leuven
Inventory and critical reviewn of international reports on health effects of exposure to extremeley low-frequency electromagnetic fields Ghent University
This study aims to identify and interpret evidence-based international review reports on
health effects of extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields - at either acute, subacute or chronic exposure - and interpret them in terms of methodology used and results. In addition, specific attention should be paid to possible health effects in the vicinity of extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields, the occurrence or non-occurrence ...
Environmental and human health effects of marine toxins under increasing anthropogenic pressure. Ghent University
The project focusses on marine toxins (produced by phytoplankton) which are an increasing environmental and human health concern. It studies their potential effects and bioaccumulation through the food chain under increasing anthropogenic pressure (i.e. eutrophication, ocean acidification, ocean warming). It will provide crucial insights on future exposure and effects of marine toxins with significant impact on environmental and human ...
Approach and loss aversion: Effects of cognitive protective biases in public health campaigns Ghent University
We investigate how consumers react to approaching and receding stimuli in advertising appeals used in a public health context, by demonstrating that (1) individuals show more negative (positive) emotions and behavior to approaching (receding) stimuli, (2) approach and loss aversion underlie this
main effect, and (3) the valence of the stimuli has a moderating influence on this effect.
