Identification of chemical compounds that specifically interact with Arctical, a novel interactor of Arabidopsis Auroral, using chemical genetics Ghent University
Aurora kinases play key roles during eukaryotic cytokinesis. Recently we identified an interactor of Arabidopsis Aurora1 (Arctica1). This protein has a polar localization in Tobacco suspension cells. The aim of this project is to identify chemical compounds that specifically interfere with this localization. This will be achieved by the development of a screening platform using confocal and epifluorescence techniques.
Mine Interact Learn Repeat: Interactive Pattern-based Data Exploration KU Leuven
In many fields, the rapid growth of the amount of available data has created the need for automated tools to assist analysts in understanding these data and discovering useful knowledge in them. Pattern mining is a well-studied knowledge discovery task, which aims at providing concise, comprehensible descriptions of coherent regions in the data. Many variations of pattern mining have been proposed in the literature, together with ...
INTERACT - cannabINoid recepTor 1 as kEy playeR in skeletAl musCle plasTicity KU Leuven
Skeletal muscle (SkM) is indispensable for locomotion and metabolic health. SkM degeneration (e.g. sarcopenia and cachexia) impairs mobility and increases the risk for metabolic diseases, e.g. type 2 diabetes. Until now, there is no therapy to completely reverse muscle wasting. Therefore, the INTERACT project aims to explore a novel target, i.e. the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and its role to attenuate age-related SkM degeneration. Based on ...
The INTERACT project: CannabINoid recepTors as kEy playeRs in skeletAl musCle plasTicity KU Leuven
Sarcopenia is a critical matter of concern in an aging population. It impairs the elderly’s quality of life and imposes an enormous burden on the healthcare system. No therapies can fully overcome age-related skeletal muscle (SkM) wasting, although SkM is very plastic. Therefore, INTERACT explores the cannabinoid system as a novel target in combatting SkM wasting. More specific, we target cannabinoid receptor (CBR) 1 and CBR2 to improve the ...

An empirical investigation of how corporate financialization, wealth inequality and the distribution of stakeholder power shape aggregate demand, interact with ECB policies and influence the climate transition. Ghent University
We will
1. document corporate financialization in the Euro Area, test its impact on investments, inequality and demand.
2. investigate how QE contributed to these trends and how the unequal distribution of stakeholder power hampers the ECB in reaching its target.
3. analyze the risks and opportunities of corporate financialization, wealth inequalities and current monetary policies for the climate transition.
