This chapter discusses the value of imaging in the detection and follow-up of bone marrow edema (BME) that may occur in sports. The use of fluid-sensitive MR sequences is most helpful for detection of BME, whereas dual-energy CT with virtual non-calcium images may be used as an alternative in patients with contraindications for MRI.
