Recent, current & near-future research on structural glass: COST Action TU0905 'Structural Glass: novel design methods and next generation products'

Structural Glass is a relatively young, yet very active research domain which is developing fast. A key target of COST Action TU0905 "Structural Glass - Novel Design Methods and Next Generation Products" is to build a strong professional network and to coordinate research efforts within this domain. In this prospect, it is extremely important to involve not only experienced researchers, but also the next generation of capable and enthusiast students, interested in Structural Glass. The colloquium proceedings you are reading now bundle the Short Papers submitted by the students to the first COST Training School "Structural Glass", held in Ghent, Belgium. As such, they give a nice cross-section of recent, current and near-future research on Structural Glass performed by master and beginning PhD students from over 20 countries in Europe and beyond. On behalf of COST Action TU0905, I hope that the presentations and the proceedings of the Student Colloquium will be successful in informing the oncoming generation about each other's work, and in building respectful friendships which after all are the best ingredients for successful future cooperation.
