Measuring environmental noise in Flanders: Mapping environmental noise in Flanders and assessing the noise environment using a Proof of Concept sensor monitoring network.

Abstract:This assignment is part of the Programme for Innovative Public Procurement on Environmental Noise (PIO) and aims to develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) for a large-scale citizen science project on environmental noise in Flanders. The central question of the project was: How can we measure source-specific noise exposure and the associated perception of annoyance among as many citizens as possible in an efficient and reproducible way?
