Editorial Special issue on ‘‘Monitoring of Infrastructure by NDT’’

The 5th International Conference on Emerging Technologies in Nondestructive Testing (ETNDT5) took place in Ioannina, Greece September in 2011. It was jointly organized by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Ioannina, Greece, Envirocoustics S.A. (now Mistras Group Hellas S.A.), and
the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. There, a specialized session chaired by Professor M. Ohtsu from Kumamoto University, Japan was held entitled ''On-Site Measurement & Monitoring by NDT in Infrastructures''. Professor Forde, editor-in-chief of the Construction and Building Materials journal was kind enough to invite me to act as guest editor for a special issue based on the papers of the session. I accepted eagerly and wish to thank him very much.
