Axial loading of small sandwich panels with textile reinforced cementitious faces monitored by DIC

Book Contribution - Book Chapter Conference Contribution

Strict European regulations according to the energy efficiency of buildings, makes sandwich panels with Textile Reinforced Cementitious (TRC) faces interesting for industry as structural and insulating performance are merged into one lightweight
construction element. A lot of effort has been put into understanding the bending behaviour of sandwich panels. For their application in structural walls however, the mechanical behaviour under axial loading still needs more investigation.
Therefore we conducted small-scale compression tests on TRC sandwich panels monitored by Digital Image Correlation (DIC). This paper shows the results of these experiments and compares two matrix materials for the TRC: inorganic
phosphate cement (IPC) and ordinary Portland cement (OPC). Local and global buckling of the panel were observed during compression tests.
