Urban pluvial flood modelling and analysis

Floods in urban areas, as a consequence of extreme rainfall (pluvial flooding), are analyzed and modelled by means of a nested 1D-2D modelling approach. The underground sewer network, simulated by means of a 1D hydrodynamic model, is coupled with a 2D surface inundation model. In addition, the implementation of simplified conceptual models is also studied. The different approaches are compared and evaluated based on validation data from recent historical floods.
