Topicality markers in French: analysis of their syntax, discourse properties and prosody.

This project is devoted to the analysis of the left periphery in French, and more particularly of left-dislocated constituents introduced by topicality markers such as à propos de x, au sujet de x, au niveau de x, concernant x, côté x, du point de vue de x, etc. Its aim is to provide a syntactic (regarding their intrapredicative vs extrapredicative function), prosodic (intonation) and pragmatic (information structure) account of these markers based on data from both a spoken and written corpus.
