Structuring Dynamics of Peri-urban Landscape Transformation & Socio-ecological Resilience: A case in the Delhi National Capital Region, India

This research aims to address emerging complexities in the peri-urban system, livelihood transitions and contribution of multifunctional agriculture in the context of interdependent resilience of the rural-urban region, in the periphery of Delhi. It aims to advance the reconceptualization of resilient cities of tomorrow, by gaining a perspective on landscape transformations and socio-ecological dynamics. By critically approaching present development trends, the research visions alternatives for a resilient growth of peri-urban areas. The core of the research shall be linked towards developing the spatial understanding of the ‘peri-urban’ conditions and its complexities in the larger and contextual narrative. The research presents an opportunity to visualise possible alternate future considering various socio-ecological and spatial aspects for a resilient development pattern.
