Project
Spatial recording, processing, and auralization of church acoustics
This doctoral research aims to design, implement, and evaluate a methodology for the recording, processing, and auralization of church acoustics. A mobile measurement setup and measurement protocol will be developed to record spatial acoustic recordings of churches that are historically relevant to the origins of Gregorian music in a database. Signal processing algorithms for the spatial analysis, modeling, and synthesis of these recordings will be designed. A loudspeaker array auralization method will be developed that enables real-time and interactive auralization. Perceptual experiments with artists specializing in Gregorian music will be formulated to evaluate and calibrate the proposed methods.
