Numerical simulation of expanding swirling flows with a hybrid RANS/LES turbulence model

Vortex precession and vortex breakdown in swirling abruptly expanding jets are simulated with a hybrid RANS-LES turbulence model. In the core of the flow, coarse grid LES is used with an e-model as subgrid model (1 dynamic euation). In wall vicinity, the same model is used as RANS model with a mixed low Reynolds number and wall function description.
