Project

Impulse project for didactic research: Informal music representation as a preparative stage in learning to make sense of music.

The aim of this research project is to assess the possibilities of informal music representation and sense-amking. By elaborating on former theoretical and empirical research by the applicants it has the intention to explore the possibility of broadening existing diagnostic tools for musical representation with the aim to conduct an intervention study for improving the intensity of dealing with music. Contrary to the previous studies, which were directed primarily at the receptive side of dealing with music, starting from graphical notations of sounding music, the aim of this project is to explore also the possibilities of motor and productive behaviour while dealing with music. Besides preparatory work for conducting in-depth future empirical research, much efforts will be done to improve the diagnostic tools for musical understanding, both at the level of listening and performing.
