The purpose of this project is the development and systematic application of non-invasive spectroscopic imaging tools for technical art history and conservation of painted artworks. As method of choice, macroscopic X-ray fluorescence will be employed, but also other methods. The imaging capabilities will be mostly used on works by Flemish artists present in the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna.
