A continuous and controlled pharmaceutical freeze-drying technology for unit doses (Freeze Drying)

Together with a company, a strategic partnership has been set up for the joint development and marketing of continuous freeze-drying technology. Within this partnership, the pharmaceutical and process analytical knowledge of UGent is combined with the company's engineering and market knowledge. The objective of this project is to develop a 'GMP-ready' industrial prototype. Starting from this prototype, valorization activities will be deployed with the objectives of (i) developing a GMP industrial continuous freeze dryer for more than 10,000 vials per day; (ii) provide R&D service services with these prototypes; (iii) grant a license to a pharmaceutical machine builder.
