Adversus inimicos. Iambic Poems of Gregory of Nazianzus [cc. II 1, 14; II 1, 47; II 1, 39; II 1, 41; II 1, 40a/b; I 1, 10]. Introduction, Critical Edition, Italian Translation and Commentary Adversus inimicos. Iambische gedichten van Gregorius van Nazianzus [cc. II 1, 14; II 1, 47; II 1, 39; II 1, 41; II 1, 40a/b; I 1, 10]. Inleiding, kritische editie, Italiaanse vertaling en commentaar

The ‘Gedichtgruppe XIII’ of Gregory’s ‘Carmina’ is a sequence of poems in iambic trimeter which has been little studied so far, but stands out for its thematic and metrical unity. Many of these poems are directed against Gregory’s enemies and reveal his political commitment during his stay in Constantinople. After accomplishing a thorough ecdotical survey, the project will result in the critical edition of seven poems (I 1, 6; I 1, 10; I 2, 27; II 1, 14; II 1, 39; II 1, 40; II 1, 41) together with a commentary, which will not merely focus on Gregory’s sources, but will furtherly investigate the Nachleben in Byzantine poetry of this iambic – and less-known – side of his poetical oeuvre.
