Energy-Aware Processing for the Industrial Internet of Things
This thesis will examine how to realize energy-aware ultra-low power IoT nodes that can deterministically operate for few years to decades. Energy harvesting technologies will be investigated and will target to provide methods to integrate complex and dynamic energy harvesting solutions in an efficient way. Further, the thesis will examine frameworks for collecting data using an ultra-low power IoT node from an application perspective for fault diagnosis, in an efficient way to conserve energy with minimal impact on accuracy of the data extracted by an IoT node. The software stacks and frameworks developed will take into consideration the constraints of memory, computation and energy of typical IoT end nodes. Research will be conducted based upon real-world prototyping and experimentation and the scientific approaches investigated will be published at top scientific venues.
