Integrated Building Blocks for Smart and Robust Resonant Power Converters

This research aims to model and implement a highly efficient resonant power converter circuit in harsh environments. The research is mainly focusing on Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based Resonant Power Converters at different frequencies for EV vehicles, PV Inverters, and different applications like Space & Avionics Rad Hard DC-DC conversion, and Rad Hard motor drives using Radiation Hardened GaN devices. The idea is to work on smart and robust switching converter topologies, Control strategies, and optimization of converter circuits using innovative Power devices in Resonant Converter applications. To better understand the scientific gaps and limitations of today’s systems and to recognize the need for innovations in this field, a closer look to the state of the art of radiation-tolerant integrated circuits, and more specifically, resonant power converters is needed.
