GENETIC DISECTION OF CALCIUM SIGNALING IN PLANT PROGRAMMED CELL DEATH

Programmed Cell Death (PCD) is a genetical mechanism to remove unwanted cells precisely, and is critical for plant development and reproduction. Lateral root cap PCD and self-incompatibility induced PCD in flowers are two plant PCD models for molecular mechanism research. With this project we will investigate the role of calcium as a universal signaling molecule in plant PCD.
