Functional properties of changes in preferences due to the Self-Referencing task
During the self-refereincing task, participants are instructed to respond in the same way when they see a neutral stimulus or a word related to the self. As a result, the neutral stimulus will become more positive. We examine the conditions under which the effect occurs and compare this with the conditions under which other changes in preferences occur.
