NonnosU+2019 Dionysiaka as an exponent of Late AntiquityU+2019s U+201Cmosaic poeticsU+201D. A structural, generic and rhetorical analysis.
Late antique poetry can be compared to a mosaic composed of dazzling U+201CtesseraeU+201D, obstructing an overall view. NonnosU+2019 Dionysiaka seems to be an excellent example. A structural, generic (CairnsU+2019 Generic Composition) and rhetorical (based on ancient theory) analysis of single episodes from this Dionysiaka will lead to a better understanding of the U+201Cmosaic poeticsU+201D of contemporary Greek and Latin poetry.
