Phenotyping atherosclerosis: morphological and functional research of the intima and media layer of the carotid and femoral artery

The principal aims of this research project are to map the variation of arterial stiffness and thickness of the intima-media complex (IMT) along the carotid and femoral artery in a representative sample of the general population and to formulate guidelines for the standardisation of measurement of IMT and local stiffness of a blood vessel.
