Geography of the Senses

Mental well-being is a complex and multidimensional concept. We tend to communicate about it in a rational and objective manner, yet as a result, we miss valuable, nuanced information. The research project ‘Geography of the Senses’, will explore ‘emotional language’ as a medium, supported by philosophical concepts as ‘ecology of selves’ , ‘neural self. More specifically, emotional experiences that arise from inside the human body are mapped through text and drawing, and interconnected with the outside world that include beyond human aspects. The overall aim of this interdisciplinary project will be to create a design framework for the integration of information that goes beyond immediate graspable concepts. This artistic research will be disseminated through publications, novel artworks and exhibitions, which will delineate the notion of the affective environment and the sensing body.
