Adjusting mindfulness-based programs to optimize context-dependent usability

Over the past decade, mindfulness has become an increasingly popular tool to foster mental health. While research has provided us with a robust basis highlighting the preventive and curative effects of mindfulness-based interventions, it remains crucial that these findings are not carelessly extrapolated into untested contexts and populations. The goal of this PhD is to examine the effectiveness and appropriateness of mindfulness-based interventions in a range of specialized and unexplored settings. In doing so, conclusions will be made regarding the desirability of (adjusted) mindfulness-based interventions in a variety of individuals, vulnerable families, schools, and hospitals.
